Martin Rev along with his band mate Alan Vega were two of Lydia's first friends in New York City. The sounds created by Martin and Alan are some of the era’s most influential. In fact, their band Suicide is often recognized as the first group to ever describe itself as punk.

Suicide never worried that much about whether or not their music and provocative stage act upset audiences. During the interview Martin recalls stories of audience outrage, while on tour with bands such as The Cars and Elvis Costello. In 1977, the duo released the self-titled debut album, which is still recognized as one of the decade’s most important. Suicide's music informed much of the post-punk, noise, industrial, synth-pop, electro and techno that came after them.
