Many people struggle to find that one thing that they are good at, and that they find nourishing. Carla Rhodes has found at least two fulfilling undertakings.

Since she was 9 years old, Carla has been a respected and well known ventriloquist. Along with her irritable sidekick Cecil Sinclaire, Carla has performed at The Slipper Room, City Winery, Joe’s Pub, Terminal 5, Cutting Room, and just about every rock ‘n roll, burlesque, and alternative comedy stage in New York City.

 

Carla has also toured with Neil Hamburger and the great Emo Philips. Carla has also been featured on CBS’ Sunday Morning. She earned a shout-out from Dave Letterman on Late Night with David Letterman. She also appeared on ABC’s The Gong Show , where she was gonged and Mike Myers punched Cecil in the face.

Carla is also an award winning nature photographer.

Beautiful Scavengers

In 2018, her wildlife shots were featured on National Geographic (online) as a ‘Top Shot’, the cover of New York City’s Urban Audubon magazine, Judge’s Favorite in the 2018 Nature Conservancy Photo Contest. 2019 brought more accolades including Readers’ Choice winner of The Smithsonian’s 16th Annual Photo Contest.  Carla says her goal with her photography is to document wildlife with empathy and understanding in the hopes of raising awareness and educating the public through the photographic form.
